Retro Data Bank Calculator Digital Watch

casio_chrome_ill_prod.jpg

Now this is one for the time traveller. With design and technology from the 1980s,this watch has real personal appeal. The Casio DBC30 1Z is a computer for the wrist. It was groundbreaking then, and now it is just as admired for its functionality in one timepiece.Instantly recognizable in the 80s style, its black case and strap is still as cool as the first watches of its class worn.

Not content with just giving the accurate time, this great looking personal item also makes itself very useful to have around at all times. It is also a 50-page data bank (8 letters and 12 numerals to a page),8-digit calculator, alarm clock, calendar, program timer, and stop watch. If this ‘transport of delight’ to another age grabs you check the spec at the balcony shirts website.

More retrogaming with Arcade Games:Space Invaders and others

IMG_1027.jpg

Remember this little chap?

The days were when players huddled around illuminated tabletops and booth-like hardware to play our favourite arcade games. This is not to say this is not a great way to play your games.I just love those tables! But there is a cheaper, dare I say FREE, opportunity to play many arcade games. You can try this out at

retrostoreworld goes mod for mens shoes

And not a Chelsea Boot in sight, yet…

…this 1960s scene evokes a little of the sun and siesta of early package tour holidays, but somewhere nearer the hub of the so-called swinging 60s things were a little livelier. The boy ‘modernists’ were making their mark. They were sporting a distinctive crop hairstyle,rounded-collar shirt, narrow trousers with 17 inch bottoms and no turn-ups,short tailored jacket, and winklepicker boots or shoes. This mod style beloved of the ‘Beatles’ and other teenage trendsetters had that Italian inspired ‘feel’.

The preferred footwear of choice was the black leather ‘Chelsea Boot’,with elasticated sides and/or side long zip, cuban heels and pointed-toes.The style though raging through the sixties never completely went away and can be bought, with variations, from good shoe retailers. As a follower of fashion you may wish to go to online retrostore atomretro.com retro clothing

Race Retro to celebrate 100 years of Racing Cars

iStock_000003688037XSmall.jpg

From 14th March to 16th March,Race Retro, the international motorshow,is to celebrate 100 years of racing. On parade at Stoneleigh Park will be a 100-year old Panhard Levasser Grand Prix car,a 1960 Ferrari Dino,a 1986 Loyus 98T F1 car, and many, many others that have graced motor racing from 1908 to the present day.

As well as a wealth of retro racing car hardware, there will be many famous drivers and co-drivers attending the event. To name a few: Paddy Hopkirk,Markku Alen, Rosemary Smith,Malcolm Wilson (Principal of M Sport and in association with Ford WRC cars),and Stuart Turner.

The show will also have a hall dedicated to Bio-Fuels. Retro racing is keen to show that it is supporting the essential move to ‘greener’ motoring – it is widely recognised that motorsports can play an invaluable part to develop and trial new technologies to promote more efficient engines and alternative fuels. On site will be classic cars converted to use of bio-fuels. The display will also include the Honda Hybrid Rally Car and the Ford E85 Fiesta.Greenergy will be promoting their 99 octane race fuel, and Anglo-American Oil will be doing the same with their E85 fuel.

If some or all of this would ‘float your boat’ why not get-on down to the ‘Park’?Full details of the show’s stars ,and the booking arrangements ,can be obtained here by one click.

Oh,and I could not help but place at the top of this post, the photo I had in my files of a 1954 Lancia D50 being driven in the wet at a Goodwood Festival of Speed. For me ,it evokes a little of what you can expect to enjoy at the Race Retro Show. Though you will not likely see this beauty at Stoneleigh, Lancia Sport will be represented by a descendant of the D50,the 037 from the 1980s, to be driven by Markku Alen,in the Manufacturer’s championship. There is so much more I could have mentioned about this absolutely crammed couple of days of the best of historic racing cars.
