So why not go for the Real Thing? The Retro Electric Mini

Mini2sunset.jpg

Now this is a really exciting opportunity! You could own a real Mini from the 60s, or later, converted to electric power by vehicle specialists, to your own specifications.

Minis are still all the fashion on our roads, although the first of these iconic cars was produced well over 40 years ago. The original body style designed by Sir Alec Assigonis was produced, with modifications from time to time, until 2000.It became the most popular British car. And now ,the Mini is a best seller again ,having been resurrected by BMW.The new BMW Mini is continuing to evolve into a very efficient ,stylish and low consumption car according to reports on low emission cars

However, enough of the new cars, how about a retro original Mini powered by electric. Here we have the best of everything. A true star from the past combined with the essential drive to reduce CO2 emissions ,and contribute to maintaining a sustainable environment for our children and later generations by helping to slow the rate of global climate change. Yes,I am a fervent believer that we can help ourselves, and moving to low emission cars is a necessary action to take. It does not have to take the fun out of cars and driving. Owning a marvellous Mini from the past converted to be driven under electric battery power is testament to this, and you can go to the future vehicles website for details if you click here

Want an electric car with the looks of a classic, the feel of a conventional car,and the power to zoom up hills and travel over 50 with no worries?

50s,60s,70s,80s,90s?

You will have your own favourite retro decade. How about the 70s? So what was memorable about this reportedly bland ,and sometimes tasteless ( actually often rather gaudy) period that subsequently has frequently kindled the interest of those populating later decades?

Do you remember : Ford Cortinas…Brian Clough as Manager of Leeds United…The Goodies…Harold Wilson,Ted Heath,Jim Callaghan and Margaret Thatcher…long wide shirt collars and flared trousers…ABBA…Star Wars…spacehoppers…punk…The Six Million Dollar Man…K-Tel Albums…bean bags…The Queen’s Silver Jubilee…the greater personal freedoms and the growing activism in matters relating to saving the environment ( and campaigns to halt the wasteful and wanton destruction of Victorian houses in the cities)…?

If you were there ,you will remember these things, and much more. If you were not ,you will probably have heard by now of these things, and feel the decade has stood-up better to scrutiny and remembrance than many who lived through those years may have thought would be the case at the time.

I shall be revisiting the 70s and many other decades past, looking for inspiration for you today ,and retro items and interests for you to consider.

Things past,have them again today!

Hi and Welcome! This blog is a work-in-progress and is designed to connect you with the things ,and style of things ,you loved in the past and perhaps would otherwise not be able to enjoy today. There will be informed reviews and plenty of nostalgia. It’s going to be worth a regular visit, even for a minute or two, to see what’s about. Look forward to having you along.

During this journey, we will look to discover what retro means. It may mean different things to different people.

In order to kick this debate off ,I would recommend we go to an expert,
or certainly someone who has made a serious study to try to find out what “retro” means. If you are interested in a comprehensive introduction to the world of retro then you should go see Elizabeth Guffey’s site where she presents her book : RETRO THE CULTURE OF REVIVAL
